My Story

Personal

As simple as it may seem, I love being active outdoors, whether exploring new locations, wild camping or competing in ultimate frisbee. This year, I will be taking my plastic yeeting abilities to Europe with my club. Being outside and active helps clear the mind and explore new ideas, but I also love being at my PC. Either editing or playing video games, with book breaks or by going to the gym.

Education

I have a Master's in Marketing from the University of Portsmouth, where I also completed my undergrad in Law with Business. During my third year, I discovered my passion for marketing while volunteering at the Portsmouth Mediation Service, where we set up and promoted a Student Mediation Service. I began to research possible job opportunities, but I had limited academic understanding, so I pursued a Master's qualification, which led to in-house experience with InSinkErator UK.

Work Experience - InSinkErator UK

I spent over a year with InSinkErator UK as a Digital Marketing Intern for Europe & Russia. Even though my role was classified as an "intern", my duties surpassed that of an assistant. My manager would refer to me as the social media executive. Running the social media organic growth from the get-go. Within a month, I took control of their social media ads. I led several campaigns on social media, both national and local, which drew customers towards our website and showrooms. This generated sales as well as brand and product awareness. The original Instagram account password was lost so I was left to create a brand new account and grow it. When I left the account had gained 1k+ followers with a 3-4% engagement rate, which relates to how many of our followers liked, commented or shared InSinkErator UKs organic content.

 

Acting as a Social Media Executive, I handled budgets of up to £10,000 for paid ads and influencer collaborations. I conducted a micro vs macro influencer analysis to see which benefitted the company's long-term goals. The results were superior with a micro approach and soon led to macro accounts asking to collaborate at a cheaper or gifted rate. I started pairing the timeframe of our influencer posts with national campaigns for similar products to maximise sales to the point where we were reaching Cyber-Monday like figures. This analysis caught the attention of a colleague visiting from the US.

 

I also managed the website with the CoreMedia software and improved the user experience on the Italian website. With Shopify, I created and managed a Friends & Family website. From new blog concepts to broken links/buttons, or even altering the wording to keep everything on-brand. I quickly went on to becoming a specialist in our SEO practices so that InSinkErator UK pages ranked high and above all competitors. The aim was to be the first non-sponsored page.

Additionally, I was part of the teams that created copy for blogs and email campaigns. In my spare time I captured and edited product photos/videos to keep content up-to-date, including spare parts.

Spare Time Edits

Over the years, when I have not worked directly in a marketing role, I have kept up-to-date with the industry. Currently I handle SOLENT Ultimate's Instagram and getting involved with a few friends small businesses which for now are under TOP SECRET. Additionally, I stay up-to-date with relevant articles on how to utilise channels accordingly to maximise growth, both organically and through PPC. Finally, I use my spare time to create quirky edits to remain fresh with the Adobe Creative Cloud software and learn any new bits and bobs they have introduced. I believe it is crucial to avoid using AI so that your content is personal and feels real to the audience.
